Accuracy over Pride

Because being proven wrong and/or given the correct information never killed anyone.

I think it's sad that so many people react poorly to being corrected. Sure, I can understand that it can be frustrating when you get told over and over that something you're saying or doing is wrong. Sure, sometimes it's embarrassing to be caught giving information you didn't realize was inaccurate. But that doesn't justify throwing a tantrum when someone tells you that something is spelled wrong. Nor does it justify shutting down the conversation and refusing to acknowledge the other person/people involved. 9 times out of 10, people correct each other because they are trying to HELP. God forbid a kind stranger should want you to be properly informed so that you don't make those same mistakes later on.

I don't always like it when I find out I'm wrong, especially if I had been completely sure of my information before it was pointed out that I was wrong. But in the end, I'd much rather be told I had the wrong information so that I can learn from the experience than to go around being ill-informed without knowing it.
